About
About Dr. Kamela Harmon
I never planned to become an expert in rebuilding my life.
I planned to spend my life helping other people through their hardest moments. As a Nurse Practitioner with a background in Emergency Medicine and Trauma, I had spent years learning how to stay calm in chaos, make decisions under pressure, and help people survive the unexpected.
Then my own life became the emergency.
I lost my husband, Clark, suddenly. I found the love of my life unresponsive and attempted to save him with CPR. I could not. In an instant, the future I thought I knew disappeared.
It felt like holding a crystal vase in your hands and letting it fall onto concrete. I shattered into a million pieces of the person I had been.
And then I had to figure out who I was going to be.
My comeback did not happen all at once. It happened in small choices: getting out of bed, walking the dog, moving my body, journaling, reading, laughing when I could, crying when I needed to, setting boundaries, reconnecting with purpose, and learning that caring for myself was not selfish.
I transformed my physical health, lost 120 pounds, developed routines that support my mental clarity and wellbeing, and discovered a strength and confidence I did not know I possessed. More importantly, I learned that I could carry grief and still build a life.
That distinction changed everything.
Grief did not disappear. I did not “move on” from Clark. I learned how to move forward with him as part of my story.
The HARMON Method grew out of that experience. It is the framework I use to help people begin rebuilding when life does not look anything like they expected.
I am not here to tell anyone how to grieve. Grief is personal. I am here to remind people that grief and joy can coexist, that healthy choices can support us while we carry hard things, and that a life after loss can still be a meaningful life.
The Promise
I made a promise to Clark to make my life a story worth telling—and to use what I have learned to help other people find their way through the dark and into whatever comes next.
Bio
Dr. Kamela Harmon is a Doctor of Education specializing in Ethical Leadership and a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner with an extensive background in emergency medicine and trauma care. Throughout her career, she has cared for people during some of the most critical moments of their lives, bringing both clinical expertise and deep compassion to every interaction.
Today, Dr. Harmon combines her years in healthcare with lived experience to help people who are navigating grief, loss, emotional overwhelm, and major life transitions. She believes rebuilding means reconnecting with yourself, discovering meaning after loss, and building a healthier, more intentional life.
After the devastating loss of her husband and soulmate, Clark, Dr. Harmon experienced firsthand the profound impact grief can have on every aspect of life. Consumed by anxiety, depression, and overwhelming sorrow, she found herself losing a significant amount of weight and struggling to recognize the person she had become. Rather than allowing grief to define the rest of her story, she chose to rebuild her life one intentional step at a time.
Through journaling, writing, movement, health, and fitness, Dr. Harmon uncovered powerful insights that transformed not only her healing journey but also the way she now serves others. Those moments of reflection became life-changing “aha” moments, where she developed the HARMON methodology, helping her find purpose in her pain and hope beyond loss.
Today, she empowers others to move through grief with compassion, embrace healthier lifestyles, and create a future that honors both their loss and their potential. Her unique blend of healthcare experience, leadership education, and personal resilience allows her to connect with audiences and clients in a way that is both practical and deeply human.
